Man Accuses Ondo Chief Judge Of Abuse Of Power, Cries For Help

A man has accused the Ondo State Chief Judge Olanrewaju Olutoyin Akeredolu, nee Fagboyegun, of allegedly using the power of her position to intimidate and remand him for over 3 years.

He said his unlawful incarceration had left him stranded in Nigeria and made it impossible for him to return to his family abroad.

In a video that has circulated online lately, a man who identified himself as Olupelumi Fagboyegun claimed he came to Nigeria three years ago and decided to visit his father’s house in Ondo State, adding he was arrested at his father’s place and charged with forceful entry. The man noted he had been on open remand for over three years.

A visibly frustrated Fagboyegun accused the present chief judge of the state, with whom he shares the same father, of being responsible for his predicament.

Fagboyegun said in the span of three years, the judge in charge of his case has been changed five times, he has been re-arraigned five times, and his charges had been changed five times. Yet, his case is still pending.

The single father called on the honourable Chief justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad CFR, the Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, as well as President Muhammadu Buhari to please come to his aid.

The transcript of his plea read as follow: "The honorable chief justice of the federal republic of Nigeria, the honourable attorney general of the federal republic of Nigeria, My name is Olupelumi Fagboyegun and I am calling you to please come to my rescue and rescue me from the Ondo state judiciary which is run like a family affair that if you don't know anybody, you can not get justice.

"I have been living abroad for over 30 years. I came on holiday to my father's house, because I share the same father with the chief justice of Ondo state, I was arrested at my father's place, I was locked up, I was charged with forceful entry to my father's house.

"Even if I was convicted of this crime, it only carries one-year penalty. One year prison penalty. But I have been on remand, open remand for the past 3years.

"This case has been going on for 3 years because the chief justice of Ondo state is using her power to influence the judicial system and I've been unable to get justice. They have chant judges five times, they have re-arraigned me five times, they have changed their charges five times, and up to today that I am talking to you on the 15 February 2021, this case is still pending.

"Please, come and rescue me. Help me, the Ondo state government cannot help me because the Ondo Government is a family business. Help me, I'm begging you. Buhari, help me from the hands of this woman. I want to go back to my family, I want to go back to my children. I am a single parent. This woman is keeping me here for the past 3 years for coming to my father's house. Please help me, I'm begging you people, I want to go back to my family," he said.
