A chieftain of the Association of Nigerian Authors and former Minister of State for Education, Prof. Jerry Agada, has died at the age of 68, AbujaCityJournal can authoritatively confirm.
The writer, who was until few hours the Chairman of the Benue State Civil Service Commission, was reported to have died Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Makurdi.
The family of the late Educationist and author is yet to release and an official statement concerning his death, however, a source close to the family revealed that the late Prof. took ill two weeks ago and had been on admission in the hospital before he passed on.
Prof. Agada was a one-time President of the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, as well as a Chairman, Governing Board of the National Commission for College of Education, NCCE.
Prof. Agada, born on 11 November 1952 at Orokam in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, being a career civil servant was appointed as the Executive Secretary, Benue State Examinations Board in 1996.
He rose to the peak of his career and became the Permanent Secretary, Benue State Ministry of Information, Youth, Sports and Culture in 1999.
He served in the same capacity in the Ministry of Education, Benue State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Benue State Bureau of Political Affairs until his retirement in 2006.
Prof. Agada also contested and lost the Benue State governorship election in 2007.
