The newly appointed Acting General Manager of Ondo State Sports Council, Henry Babatunde, says he will prioritise the welfare of coaches and athletes to achieve optimum performance during his administration.
Babatunde, who made the disclosure in interview on Wednesday in Akure, promised to reform and reposition the council to meet up with its mandate of improving the level sports performance in the state.
“My primary concern is the welfare of the coaches and athletes because they are the primary instrument that we have to use to achieve our aim.
“We have a lot of things to do here, a lot of reform agenda and reinvention, we will also look at the areas where we can make readjustments. But I believe with the support of everyone we can do better than before".
“We will look at areas where we can bring better developments and effect the necessary changes and ensure our sports are generally repositioned for optimum result,” he said.
Babatunde said coaches and athletes would be advised on the need to wake up to their responsibility to achieve better results at the upcoming National Sports Festival in Edo.
The general manager said had begun consultation with different units in the council on how to make a difference in all spheres of sports in the state.
SpyeTV reports that Babatunde replaced Wande Fabuluje who retired in October.
